A series of preparatory meetings between CEBC member participants and government ministers and authorities are taking place to garner direction and support for Mission goals and initiatives. Consultations with Minister of Petroleum, H.E. Sameh Fahmy, Investment Authority Director, Dr. Ziad Bahaa El Din , Minister of Tourism , H.E.Ahmed El Maghraby , and Minister of Information , H.E. Anas El Feky .
His Excellency Ziad Bahaa El Din, Chairman of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones
On February 17 th , 12 members of CEBC's Board of Directors and members met with H.E. Ziad Bahaa El Din, Head of the Investment Authority. CEBC Chairman Motaz Raslan underlined CEBC's mission of strengthening bi-lateral Canada Egypt relations as well as the goals of the organization's upcoming trade mission. Dr. Bahaa El Din expressed his unqualified support of the mission and seconded a heretofore unnamed representative from his office to accompany the mission. Dr. Bahaa El Din also expressed his interest in sectoral data and in meeting with key Canadian companies in Egypt .
His Excellency Sameh Fahmy, Minister of Petroleum
A highly productive meeting with 14 CEBC Board of Directors and members and H.E. Sameh Fahmy transpired on the 20 th of February. H.E. stressed the importance of Canadian Egyptian relations and expressed his willingness to join the mission personally to bolster ties with Canada's significant oil, gas and mineral industries and communicate Egypt's needs in the oil, gas and mineral sectors including: equipment to excavate for minerals; service companies for mineral resources; upstream companies; consultancy services for the mineral sector and the need for a mineral sector master plan.
His Excellency Ahmed El Maghraby, Minister of Tourism
In a meeting with H.E. Ahmed El Maghraby over 10 CEBC members and leadership introduced the work and aims of the organization and underlined the goals of the upcoming trade mission to Canada . The Minister stressed the need for Canadian expertise in the tourism sector, rather than funds, especially in the areas of technical training, tourism company and resort operations, management and administration. He also expressed the Ministry's readiness to welcome Canadian tour operators, facilitate their operations by preparing "awareness programs" and to promote strong bi-lateral relations in the tourism sector.
His Excellency Anas El Fekky, Minister of Information
On April 26 th 2005 , 6 members of CEBC's Board of Directors and members met with H.E. Anas El Fekky, Minister of Information. H.E. Welcomed the idea of the Trade mission to Canada & offered his cooperation in two ways: Either by sending a representative from the Ministry or by requesting their office in Canada to cover the trade mission & send details to Cairo to be broadcasted.
One of the Ministry's objectives is acquiring of the "know how" from expertise. The Ministry has already signed a contract with BBC for upgrading the system of broadcasting in the Egyptian TV and has done likewise with the Italians in the sector of Talk show.
H.E. El Fekky expressed his willingness to sign a similar partnership with the Canadians in the field of Documentaries. |
